What's Floating Around

What’s Floating Around Us in December 2019?

Blue Baubles

Welcome to December and no doubt many will be enjoying a round of great Christmas Parties and celebrations in the lead up to the big day. Not only do we book great events for our clients around the festive season, but we also get to enjoy some pretty fabulous events ourselves from the various hotels and venues with whom we work.

As event professionals working in this amazing industry, we get to experience wonderful destinations, venues and hotels and we get treated to the best the industry has to offer.  So, this is us, along with our fellow member of the AIEA, stepping up and doing something for those who don’t get to enjoy the same opportunities, and hopefully providing some much needed respite and festive cheer for women and children survivors of domestic abuse and sexual violence supported by Solace Women’s Aid.

On Monday 16 December 2019, members of the AIEA will be hosting and running a Christmas Event at Friends House (who are being incredibly generous), opposite Euston Station for around 150 guests.

We’ll be waitressing, washing up, providing entertainment and lunch and hopefully adding a smile to a few faces along the way in a relaxed and informal setting with no agenda other than to try and provide a nice festive and safe atmosphere for a few hours. We have even persuaded one of our members to dress up as Santa, and along with some colleague’s dresses as elves, we’re having a fabulous grotto built to provide gifts for kinds and adults alike.

In addition, we are also setting up lots of stalls where our guests can exchange (free) complimentary vouchers for clothes, shoes, books, toys, costume jewellery, food hampers, handbags, cosmetics and toiletries, gifts and we are even going to have a delicate area!

The everyday items that we take for granted could make all the difference to those who have nothing or have had to flee their homes and it must be pretty miserable facing Christmas, without any means to buy a gift for your child, or unable to even enjoy any sense of excitement.

Its only a small thing we are doing, and yet the industry has been amazing with donations and not just financial support, but we’ve also been inundated with toiletries and gifts from many hotels and venues to help us along the way.

We are really looking forward to the event and we hope that we can do something a bit special for our guests – it feels great to be able to give back to our industry and share a little festive cheer.

Enjoy your festive season from all at Cloud 9.
